Hello everyone. I have a question regarding the PyAEDT installation. It seems to have installed successfully, but the PyAEDT console icon is missing. Could anyone suggest what the problem might be and how to resolve it?
Hello Dmytro Maiboroda,
It should be there. Which version of aedt? I think pyaedt is installed successfully, but I would like to use pycharm and install pyaedt package in pycharm.
Please close and restart the Ansys Electronics Desktop (AEDT) after the installation.
The PyAEDT toolkit console should be accessible from the menus:
Tools > Toolkits > Personallib > Console > pyaedt_console
OR depending on the PyADET version it may be:
Tools > Toolkits > Personallib > PyAEDT Console > pyaedt_console
If the menu changes do not get updated, you can force a menu update from the menus:
Tools > Toolkits > Update Menu
**************************************
Check the installation for the PyAEDT toolkit menu items. These are placed inside your AEDT PersonalLib folder.
Your AEDT PersonlLib folder location may be found from the menus:
Tools > Options > General Options
expand General branch in Options dialog window
select General branch and Directories branch
This will list the locations of the folders for: Project, Temp, SysLib, UserLib, and PersonalLib.
Located your PerconalLib folder and open it using your Windows file manager. You should see:
../PersonalLib/Toolkits and ../PersonalLib/Toolkits/Project
These folders contain the menu items that should show up in the AEDT menus and related .py scripts. Check the console script and you will see the Python commands used to open the console.
NOTE: It is recommended that your Project, Temp, and PersonalLib folder be placed in a folder on the local drive of your machine instead of a network drive as network drives may introduce time lags or connection issues from time to time.
The pyAEDT library will be installed from the internet. The Python executables and built-in libraries will be copied from the HFSS installation folder located (for example):
C:\Program Files\ANSYS Inc\v252\commonfiles\CPython\3_10\winx64\Release
For old versions of AEDT folder would be located (for example):
C:\Program Files\AnsysEM\v242
A future release of AEDT will include the PyAEDT pre-installed.
The PyAEDT installation will be installed in:
C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming.pyaedt_env\3_10
An easy way to access this folder is to open the Windows file manager and type:
shell:appdata
Then open the subfolder .pyaedt
The python executables are located in the Scripts sub-folder:
C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming.pyaedt_env\3_10\Scripts\python.exe
Other executables are also present in this folder: ipython.exe, pip.exe, etc.
The installed Python libraries are present in the folder:
C:\Users\jrsherma\AppData\Roaming.pyaedt_env\3_10\Lib\site-packages
To reinstall PyAEDT, you can delete the folders (after you exist AEDT):
.../PersonalLib/Toolkits and ../PersonalLib/Toolkits/Project
AND
C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\.pyaedt_env
Then download the installation script and follow the instructions at:
