Creating Named Selections Based off Material Assignment

Hi! I am trying to find an updated script to create named selections based off material assignment. I have a lot of models to work through in various mechanicals within one workbench file, so having a script will speedup analysis quickly. I found this link: https://discuss.ansys.com/discussion/2773/how-can-we-create-named-selections-containing-the-parts-that-have-the-same-material , but it seems that it is outdated for my current version (2025 R2). The computer I am doing the work on has no access to the internet so debugging takes way longer than it usually would. Could anyone help me with an updated script for 2025 R2? Thanks.

I would use the built in NS worksheet logic to help with this:

mat_names = ['Structural Steel', 'Some Other Mat']

with Transaction (True):

    for mat_name in mat_names:

        NS = Model.NamedSelections.AddNamedSelection()

        NS.ScopingMethod = GeometryDefineByType.Worksheet

        NS.GenerationCriteria.Add(None)

        NS.GenerationCriteria[0].EntityType = SelectionType.GeoBody

        NS.GenerationCriteria[0].Criterion = SelectionCriterionType.Material

        NS.GenerationCriteria[0].Operator = SelectionOperatorType.Equal

        NS.GenerationCriteria[0].Value = mat_name

        NS.Name = mat_name + " bodies"

        NS.Generate()
