A list of commonly asked questions we get about the Forum and their answers.

  • I pasted my code into a code block on the forum and the whitespace wasn't preserved. What gives?
    • Not all text editors can export code as well as others. We have found that VS Code and JetBrains applications work best
  • I found reference to an undocumented command on the Forum. Can I use that?
    • Anything found on this forum is used at your own risk. This is a public space and you should use due diligence when applying tools you find. Ansys is only responsible for information provided by Ansys employees and in the event they share undocumented commands you use them at your own risk.

    • I posted some text and a word got replaced with* "<🤬WORD FLAGGED🤬>" *what's going on?
      • This happens when you trigger our profanity filter. The flagged word gets replaced with "<🤬WORD FLAGGED🤬>". if this happens in a codeblock, tag an admin or contact us directly as it is not uncommon that "bad" words have common meanings in programming that might be suspect in other circumstances. strip is a commonly used method on strings in Python, for example, but is often flagged by profanity filters.

    • How can I tell who is an Ansys Employee and who is not?

      • Ansys Employees all have the unique "Ansys Employee" Badge, which should be visible on their profile.

    • I am an Ansys Employee but do not have the badge, how do I get it?

      • Contact one of the admins, like myself, and we can give you the badge.
