Is it possible to set up position-dependent convection boundary conditions that can be scaled over t
Hello,
I am working on creating a transient thermal model in Ansys Mechanical. My goal is to apply boundary conditions for convection, specifically a temperature and a heat transfer coefficient that both vary as a function of position. Furthermore, I would like to scale these functions over different time steps.
While I’ve learned that it’s possible to scale values using an APDL script, it seems this doesn’t directly apply to functions. Is there a way to implement such position-dependent boundary conditions and also control their scaling over time via an APDL script? If so, how can I define and manage these temperature boundary conditions directly within the APDL script?
Any advice or guidance would be greatly appreciated!

Hi. This forum is for questions on mechanical/spaceclaim/fluent scripting and coding. If you are a current Ansys customer, I suggest you contact your Ansys Account Manager or contact your Tech Support provider for help on this question. If you are not a current customer, I would recommend posting your question on the Ansys Learning Forum: https://forum.ansys.com/
