Abnormal Pressure Drop in Porous Media Simulation – ANSYS Fluent

Hi everyone,

I'm working on a porous media flow simulation in ANSYS Fluent using air as the working fluid. The goal is to analyze flow through a filter paper modeled as a porous zone. I’ve defined the porous medium under Cell Zone Conditions following guidance from forums and literature.

However, I'm encountering an issue: the pressure drops sharply at the start of the porous region and then remains constant, suggesting that the flow isn't penetrating the filter media. It seems Fluent may be treating the porous zone as a solid wall.

I've attached the geometry image (where the left and right regions represent upstream and downstream flow, and the central dark gray area is the porous zone), as well as a plot of pressure vs. distance.

Any help diagnosing or resolving this would be greatly appreciated.

Kind regards,
Hammad
