Hi everyone,
I'm currently working on a radiation modeling case in ANSYS Fluent and had a few questions. Specifically, I'm dealing with boundary conditions related to solar irradiation and heat inputs, and I’m a bit confused about how to properly define some parameters.
Solar Irradiance:
I want to simulate solar irradiation with an intensity of 1.5 MW/m². Is this feasible within Fluent's radiation models? Are there any upper limits or considerations I should be aware of when using such a high value for solar load?
External Emissivity in Radiation Tab (Wall BC):
In the radiation settings under the wall boundary conditions, I noticed a parameter called "External Emissivity." I'm not quite clear on how it works in ANSYS Fluent.
How does this value influence the radiation heat transfer if the wall is exposed to solar radiation?
Any clarification on the physical meaning and its impact on results would be appreciated.
Heat Flux vs. Volumetric Heat Generation as Inlet BC:
In my case setup, would it be valid to define a heat flux at an inlet instead of using volumetric heat generation?
Under what conditions is one preferred over the other?
If I'm aiming to represent external heat input (like solar), does Fluent allow me to use a surface heat flux rather than distributing it volumetrically?
I appreciate any insights or references you can share. I'm fairly new to radiation modeling in Fluent, so any guidance will really help.
Thanks in advance!
