Stresses at Nodes ACT scripting

Hi! I'm new to Ansys and I am starting with some basis on extension scripting. I want to obtain stresses at nodes. When I try "GetNodalValues". I get and error of not a nodal result. I know Stresses are at integration points and now only way is to use "GetElementValues".

Is there any other workaround instead of extrapolating stresses on my own to the nodes.

I tried reading some previous discussions but mostly are with dpf, as of I know. This reply would be really helpful to kickstart my work with ANSYS.

Hi @AK_Alf, indeed the stresses are elemental results, however the extrapolation from the Gauss points to the nodes is already done. You'll get values per node, per element. (So if node 1 belongs to element 1 and 2 you'll get two values for node 1, one as node 1 belonging to element 1 and one for node 1 as belonging to element 2).

Hi @AK_Alf : The results are already extrapolated to the nodes, even for unaveraged results (the situation I explained above, where you get several values per node). However I think what you are looking for is averaged results (so one value per node). In that case, I'd recommend using scripting to insert a stress result in Mechanical, set display values to Averaged, and then get the values through PlotData.
